Whoa! In another blink of an eye, a year has passed! Always never felt the years creeping in…before I knew it I’ve reached 22!
It was a great birthday, I came for work, not expecting anything and concentrating on the things I’m supposed to do as well as preparation for the trip to Malacca, there were alot of things to do!
All of a sudden, I saw my friend stormed into the office carrying a birthday cake! I was excited, of course I thought it was for me! She told me no, its for herself, so I thought nothing about it. But as soon as I’ve changed later that afternoon to get ready to leave for Malacca, I saw TWO cakes on the table along with snacks, paper plates…and my colleagues around the place singing happy birthday! That was truly awesome, I didn’t expect everyone to come together for this. *tears*
After the happy feast, my friend and I left for Malacca, that is another adventure I’ll have to relate some time soon, but the journey there was exciting and long…really long.
Lets skip to the good parts, we finally arrived at the hotel, a really grand looking hotel, INSIDE OUT! After being on the road for almost 3 hours, we got hungry and went searching for food, along the way we saw this huge shopping mall, checked it out and before we ordered food at the restaurant, a friend called us.
We were whisked away from the restaurant and transported to a shop along the road where we tasted an exotic dish, known famously among Malaccan’s = Satay Celup.
I have one thing to say: DELICIOUS!
Yeap thats it. You want to know more? Go taste it for yourself, I just can’t justify the proper words to describe such simple extravagances of life.
We did not each much since the friend wanted to introduce more of Malacca’s cuisines…and we were brought to this alley way, really suspicious aye? But as we walked further amongst the sour smell of the drain and detergent…there were really small chairs and a few long low tables. I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears but this is the place we shall be dining at! A drain side restaurant! We were served La La, See Ham and rojak with fishcakes. I was feeling slightly nausea tic because of the environment, but my friend was really comfortable and happily chowing down the See Ham’s and La La’s…I was trying not to vomit on the spot, ah such a delicate stomach resides in me.
After our alley dinner, we move onto our next destination…the beach! Our friend cum tour guide informed us that this area is a well known romantic spot in Malacca, its actually a long board that goes up to 100 metres from the shore where couples may dangle their feet with the star lit sky above their heads and the sound of the waves below their feet. At that place, my friend and another sang me my birthday song! Under the star lit sky and the roaring of the sea, what more could I ask for?
Its awesome, I can’t wait for the next few birthdays to come by! 😀
